Director of Corporate Compliance and Risk

Salary range: £70,000 – £80,000 (based on experience and qualifications)

About The Role:
The ideal candidate will be residing within the United Kingdom (UK) and also serve as the nominated officer and will play a pivotal role in overseeing our Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF) framework, ensuring full compliance with the FCA and all applicable laws and regulations. This is a Certified Function under the SMCR regime.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary point of contact for the FCA and law enforcement agencies on all AML/CTF matters.
- Maintain and enhance the firm's AML/CTF framework, including policies, procedures, transaction monitoring, and reporting systems.
- Identifying potential risks across various areas, including financial, operational, and reputational, and assessing their likelihood and potential impact.
- Submit Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) and ensure proper record-keeping and audit trails.
- Oversee and manage the AML risk assessment and KYC/CDD processes.
- Monitor regulatory changes and ensure compliance across all business units.
- Provide AML/CTF training to staff and conduct ongoing awareness initiatives
- Report regularly to the board and senior management on compliance issues, emerging risks, and regulatory developments.
- Lead the investigation of suspicious activity and coordinate internal escalation processes.
- Collaborate with the Ris.k, Legal, and Compliance teams on broader regulatory and operational risks.
- Comprehensive knowledge of US, UK and Canada regulatory requirements.
Skills Required:
- Experience working in multi-jurisdictional compliance environments.
- Knowledge of operational resilience and financial crime technology tools.
- Strong background in risk management, ideally within payments, e-money, or remittance sectors.
- Familiarity with digital onboarding and automated transaction monitoring solutions.
- In-depth knowledge of AML/CTF laws, FCA rules (e.g., SYSC, REP-CRIM), and relevant UK and international regulations.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven ability to manage complex investigations and regulatory engagements.
- Excellent analytical, organisational, and problem-solving abilities.
Qualifications:
- Professional qualifications such as ACAMS, ICA Diploma in AML/Compliance, or equivalent are essential.
- Minimum of 5 years experience as an MLRO in an FCA-authorised firm with an API or EMI licence or held an AML compliance position previously in a fintech company.
